Why is the margin different for each stock?

The haircut/margin percentage is decided by our Risk Management team in-line with SEBI guidelines. It is different for each stock based on several factors:

• Stock's historical volatility

• Liquidity (trading volume)

• Market capitalization

• Clearing corporation's risk assessment

Riskier/more volatile stocks have higher haircuts, resulting in lower margin per rupee of holding value. Blue-chip, high-liquidity stocks typically have lower haircuts.

Note: Haircut percentages can change. The clearing corporation updates these periodically, and we revise our rates accordingly.
