Muhurat Trading

On the occasion of Diwali-Lakshmi Pujan, the NSE and BSE permit trading for a limited time, usually a one-hour window which is known as Muhurat Trading. Segments on which one can trade during Muhurat Trading include equity, equity derivative, Securities Lending and Borrowing (SLB), currency derivatives, commodity derivatives and Electronic Gold Receipts (EGR). Muhurat Trading usually lasts for about an hour during the evening on Diwali. The exact time is announced by stock exchanges like NSE and BSE each year. Generally, the window will open between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM.
